Sometimes just thinking of the power of God causes me to tremble. I think of all those who aren’t believers but do believe in God and wonder, “How can they see and recognize the power of man but don’t see the majesty and sovereignty of God?”
The Bible gives an analogy of ants. It says that they are not lazy and they gather and toil without anything telling them to prepare. (Prov.6:6-8). However, I look at the ants and picture myself as an ant standing before God. I’m insignificant and extremely God-dependent.
Magnitude is defined as the ‘great size or extent of something’ according to dictionary.com. But how does this definition convey God’s magnitude? In Isaiah.66:1, God says
“The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.”
Was God literally showing us that, that’s his size? No, he wasn’t. God was explaining and trying to prove a point to us. He is head and shoulder above every creature on this planet and everything in this vast universe.
The author was giving us an earthly measurement that we technically could wrap our minds around. What we do know is God is vast enough to fill this entire universe yet small enough to enter into our hearts.
To get a better understanding of the magnitude of God read:
Scripture for Today:
Song for Today:
This song will put you in the frame of mind to praise and magnify our great God.
Prayer for Today:
Dear Jesus,
I am humbled by your majesty and I stand in awe of you. I want to do what is pleasing in your sight at all times. Thank you for this earth that you’ve created that shows your magnitude and grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Quote to Remember:
If the earth yields to God’s greatness and lives to praise him what’s stopping you?
