I stepped out of my comfort zone when my daughter was born. It was extremely weird for me, this being my first child and all. After her birth, I stayed home for three months with her and I’ve never told anyone this but I suffered from a little post-partum depression. And this is why I wrote a prayer for moms with little girls.

My daughter is beautiful and I like to attribute that to the fact that she completely sapped me of my beauty. There are some mothers who are glowing and I dare say even more beautiful when they’re with a child than others.

I made up the others. My nose was huge and I was huge. I had major discoloration and I felt very ugly. My face wasn’t the only disfigured part because I had a C-section. Just to be clear, I am not complaining in the least because I had a beautiful, beautiful pregnancy. She was an awesome child in the womb, I never threw up or was sick. And she liked everything that I ate.

My husband didn’t have to run to the store to buy me anything because I had no cravings.

Depression hit me hard though, it was just me and my daughter at home together most days and I felt ugly and I felt worthless.

A prayer for moms with little girls
Pray for your daughters.

As the days turned to weeks and months, I bonded with my daughter and my face cleared up and my belly, well let’s just say not much has changed. But, I started thinking about who I was and what I’ve accomplished and I cried.

I’m going to be my daughter’s first role model and example.

You are your daughter’s first role model and example. This awesome opportunity has been placed on your life. God chose her to be your daughter and now you are to lead her into womanhood.

If you were on the outside looking in at your life, would you be a great example for a little girl to follow?

Have you followed your dreams, chased and pursued your passions? What have you accomplished? How can you pass on valuable truths that will encourage your daughter when times get hard. when someone doesn’t want to be her friend, when homework is tiring or when she wants to quit?

These thoughts and much more ran through my mind. I wanted a little girl but as soon as I got her I realized that to whom much is given much is required.

Today, you may want to be a godly example for your child, you want her to be bold and brave and go after whatever her passions or dreams are. I want that too.

So, let’s pray.

Prayer for Today:

(While saying this prayer put yourself in my place.)

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are the all-seeing God. You knew how much I wanted to have a little girl of my very own and you have provided that need. Thank you. Father, I am entrusted with her care and I want to shield her and protect her and make sure she is always safe but that’s not my job God, it’s yours. I turn your child over to you and I ask that you will help me to not be anxious about her future and what may befall her but to place my trust in you. You know what is best. She is your Jesus, She is yours. Help me to never forget that my best will never be greater than yours. Steady my heart whenever I feel pressured to be perfect because she is watching me, help me to just do my best to be a great balance of godliness and humanity. Guard my heart so that my intentions don’t overpower yours. I offer my daughter to you for your protection, care, and love. In Jesus’ name Amen.
