It’s that time of year again when America sets aside a time to give thanks. This year what are you thankful for?

I chose to be thankful for everything and in every situation no matter the circumstance because God has been so good.

He chooses to send the blessing of rain not on the just alone but also on the good. It’s not like he couldn’t if he wanted because I have seen times when the rain would skip a certain part of the land and defy human comprehension.

But God is a just God and he blesses everyone whether we trust in him or not.

How sweet it is to know that we can lean on his promises and trust him during every season of our lives without fear of anything.

This year I’ve decided to sit back and observe my family during Thanksgiving dinner and make a list of all the things I’m thankful for.

Here are fourteen reasons to be thankful:

What are you thankful for?
Gratitude is a must!

1. Be thankful for your immediate and extended family

Your family loves you and you love them so be aware that during this time of year not everyone can say the same thing about themselves.

Having people support your dreams and knowing that they want the best for you is so essential to actually pursue your dreams. Don’t take this for granted. (I’m sure you don’t.)

2. Your job

This allows you to financially contribute to your family’s well-being.

Even if you’re not pursuing the career path of your dreams, be thankful for your job because it will give you the wings you need to go after your dreams eventually.

3. Your boss

The bible says to obey those that have the rule over you and your boss is no exception.

Whether you have a good or bad one be grateful for the person over you.

Most times they are under much more pressure than you so smile or give them some words of encouragement.

4. For food

I hope you had lots of sweet and savory foods this thanksgiving. However, if you didn’t, give thanks for what little you did have. You know the statistics and you know you are blessed, so act like it and be thankful for what you had.

5. For your hair

Ok, I know this is unconventional but when you look around don’t you see some people seriously struggling in the hair department?

Lol, but all jokes aside, a woman’s hair is her crown and you should be thankful for your kinky, wavy, or straight hair.

What are you thankful for?
Gratitude is a must!

6. For your hearing

Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you were unable to hear?

You might not think about it often but if something were to happen you will see how important it was to be able to hear.

Pray that God makes you sensitive to the plight of others this Thanksgiving and always.

7. For music

Music has the amazing ability to change someone’s mood, uplift your spirits and so much more.

You know the special song that causes you to want to dance before the Lord.

Be thankful that God saw fit to give and gift us with music.

8. For your relationship with God

There are a lot of people in hell today wishing that they had a relationship with God.

Since you have received his salvation be thankful because you didn’t choose him, he chose you; way before time began.

9. For doctors

God is our great physician but he has also given man the intelligence to perform surgeries and do so much research so that we can live longer and take care of our temple.

Be grateful for your doctor and respect his diagnosis by being obedient.

10. That you’re alive

You are still alive, find out why and pursue it with everything you’ve got.

God chose to wake you up this morning so be thankful and grateful.

11. For your offspring

Do you have children? If you do be grateful, there are so many couples who are waiting and looking with expectation for this beautiful gift that God offers.

Be thankful for your child/children and offer them back to God because he loaned them to you.

Gratitude is a must!
Gratitude is a must!

12. For your spouse

If you have a wonderful spouse, someone who loves you unconditionally, then say praise the Lord.

Let them know that you are thankful and grateful for their love, presence, and support in your life.

13. For God’s protection

There were so many mishaps and “could’ve been” that happened during this past year that you had no idea about.

So many things that God has spared you from and continues to.

Your God never sleeps or gets tired; he is constantly protecting you whether you are aware or not. Say thank you!

14. For God’s provision

Do you really think your resume was all that and a bag of chips? God provided that opportunity, that job, that money, that bread…. He is your provider.

There is nothing good that he will withhold from you, nothing.

He knows exactly what you have need of and he will provide.

Even so, gratitude is important and it should be included in your daily conversations with him.

Your turn

Make a list and write down everything that you are thankful for. It doesn’t matter if it seems insignificant to you because everything that you have someone else wishes that they had it.

They might not even care what you’re going through because you have it, all they know is, it’s something they lack and they would be grateful if they had it.

So, make a list and I can assure you, you will realize that you haven’t even begun to show gratitude to God. Making a list will help you to see that you have so much more than you ever thought you had.

When I think of thankfulness and gratitude, I remember the parable about the 10 lepers.

All were healed by Jesus but only one returned to offer thanks. Luke.17: 11-19

Don’t be like the 9 that didn’t return. Offer thanksgiving to God and to anyone that has blessed you this year whether it’s a kind word or a huge gesture. Let them know your gratitude.

Share this post on your social media platforms so others can start making their own lists. Being thankful is important and it should be encouraged every so often because as humans we easily forget.

If you need a much longer list for inspiration here are 60 things to be thankful for.

Thanks for stopping by,

I love you with the love of Christ.
