Welcome to His Encouragement: Thankful Thursdays
Every Thursday I will be using scripture to bring you some encouragement along with some other sister bloggers I recently joined.
As soon as you finish reading this short encouragement you will find links to other encouraging posts. Be sure to take a look and glean from them as you head into the weekend.
Isaiah 23:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you.
With the way that chaos has broken out and the cure is far out of reach, the world is still constantly looking for peace. If you are one that has to stay at home during this unprecedented time you will realize that peace is definitely lacking.
When it first started, you may have looked at Corona as though she was a very long holiday or short vacation but she has spread herself wide and has brought great anxiety and unrest to us all.
Despite the far-reaching effects of the corona you can still have peace. Even if you have lost your job, your children are causing you to go gray faster or your finances are so low you don’t know if you can pay your next mortgage/rent…..you can still have peace.
You are a child of God, a daughter of the King and the promises in our key scripture today are yours.
This simply means that with chaos all around you, when the pressures and worries of life weigh you down, God will keep you in perfect peace.
How will God keep you in perfect peace?
Once your mind stays on Jesus, he will keep you in perfect peace. This is where you take every thought captive. What are you thinking? Are the thoughts on your mind, thoughts of peace, or war?
How can you keep your mind focused on Christ? First of all, you can’t. Yeah, I’m sorry; only by relying on God can you keep your mind on him.
Does this mean that doubts won’t arise? No. Stressful situations will come, injustices will take place and viruses will arise but you have to let God control your mind.
When situations block your focus; don’t dwell on them. What you don’t realize is that you have more help than the bible believers did. When Isaiah wrote these verses, he only had the books before him. You, my friend, have the complete bible with God’s inspired words.
You also have the avenue of prayer, a local church full of sisters and brothers to come alongside you, an undershepherd willing to shepherd you and the holy spirit living within.
There is also worship music and let’s not forget to mention an endless supply of books, blogs, and information that offers biblical encouragement.
Memorization can help you to keep your mind focused on God. Jesus used scripture to defeat the devil and you can do the same. Tell those thoughts to flee and replace it with a scripture that you love.
When it comes to renewing your mind the Bible has all the wisdom that you need.
Other than perfect peace and a focused mind you need to trust in Jesus
Why should you keep your mind stayed on Jesus? Because you trust him. Do you trust in Jesus? When you think of Jesus, how do you view him?
He has brought you this far and he has never given you a reason to not trust him.
The path that he has set before you is for your good and his glory and he has proven his faithfulness over and over. He grants you new mercies every morning, he provides your daily bread and he is your peace.
Earlier I talked about the peace that he bestows on you but that’s the peace that resides in your heart because you have trusted in Jesus.
This peace is made of trust. You can trust in the one that speaks to the sea, you can trust in the one that can heal and you can trust in the one who will always be there.
Trust in Jesus, he will be your peace and the strength that you need to tell your mind to focus on him.
Tell me in the comments, what the verse for today means to you. And tell me all about the verse that you have been focusing on this week in your own time with Jesus?
