Do you take things as they come? What is the opposite of contentment? It is to be dissatisfied and to always crave more or better.
When I wake up in the morning (should the Lord allow) if I’m not thankful for what I have my day will be miserable. If you’re not content with the blessings that God has given to you; you will develop an attitude of ungratefulness.
This can become a problem when you start doing good for a few close friends and family. God forbid that they never thank you or appreciate what you’ve done, and you will eventually stop.
No one wants to truly serve others but that is what we are called to do. Oswald Chambers said: “Take things as they come.”
This simply means don’t try to make them better; whatever the situation is; go through it and allow God to be glorified.
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out of it.
1 Tim.6:6-7
I sometimes just sit and observe my daughter. Staring in wonder, I watch her facial expressions; enjoy her baby babble and I’m so amused by the things she does.
She goes to sleep when she is tired and she cries to let me know that she is hungry.
My daughter has absolutely no cares or worries so she has no stress.
She simply trusts that her parents will provide and be there for her when she needs help.
As her mom I want her to trust and depend on me. This is exactly what Jesus wants from you. He wants your total trust. Not just when things are going good but also when things are going bad.
At every step he wants you to have child-like faith. Do you take things as they come? Or do you fret and complain?
Choose to be content daily. You can choose to let God take control. Use baby steps and take things one day at a time.
Scripture for Today
Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
Phil.4:11
Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have, for he himself has said, ” I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”
Heb.13:5
Prayer for Today
Abba Father, I cannot thank you enough for your manifold blessings on my life. I want to have full trust and confidence in you so help me to take things as they come. Help me to be content with whatever state I have and the place that I’m in. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
Are you in a state of ungratefulness? Jesus is always open to communicating with you day or night, talk to the Lord he is waiting.
