Take a good look around you. The world is literally having a melt-down. The superpowers of the world are all scratching their heads and no one has the answer or cure to all the deadly, invisible diseases. But you don’t have to worry because your weakness is your strength in Christ.

I don’t know about you but every time I go on a social media platform, there is one thing they all have in common.

Can you guess what it is?

They all have ads.

Ads about toothpaste or leveling up in life. (I’m sorry I know those two examples were totally random) But you get my drift.

There is one thing that the world is very good at hiding and it’s their weaknesses.

You know that saying that we like to share, “fake it till you make it”. This is what the world is doing and they label it as leveling up or an upgrade.
A lot of these ideologies can seem awesome because we are in this world.

We all share the same experiences. So, it’s natural to want what the world has.

But today ladies, I want to share that some of the things that the world models is Anti-Christian. Say what? Yes, girl, these practices are no good.

And they don’t have any benefits for us as believers. I want you to leave this post today focused on eternity because, with the Corona around, God’s return is a lot sooner than we think.

Disclaimer: This post is simply to make you think. I am not in any way telling you to not do the things listed below. Just remember where your true treasure is.

Here are four instances where your weakness is your strength in Christ:

Self-care

Have you noticed that this word has become extremely popular lately? Self-care is important but why has it become so popular?

Weren’t we taking care of ourselves before? Yes, but it has brought about an age and time where everyone is much more self-centered than ever before.

The beloved “selfie” pic even gives weight to this phenomenon.  But did you know that this is actually a weakness that we have. We cover up our anxiety or loneliness by doing acts of self-care.

We’ve even gotten to the point were friendships can be totally cut off because of this term.

Ladies, as Christian women, this is not the way for us. We shouldn’t be like the world and if we are following Jesus—well we should know exactly who he is.

He is not self-centered; he didn’t even think of himself when he chose to die for us.

There is a right way and a wrong way when it comes to self-care. We can either put ourselves first or we can put God and others first.

When Elisha told the widow to make him a small bread before feeding her son and herself first, she didn’t even think twice.

And what did God do?

He did what only he alone can do. He took care of her for the rest of her life. She ate for many days from the resource that God kept replenishing. From the brink of despair to flourishing hope and longevity. (1 Kings.17:12) Putting God and others first has its rewards.

Jesus want us to pattern him, so let’s draw closer to him by putting him first and serving others. Along the way you will notice that you have to care for yourself in order to help others.

And guess what, in any area of weakness you have God as your strength. Weakness is your strength in Christ.

Psalms.28:7-8; Mark.12:31

Having multiple streams of income

Ok, so I’m so guilty of this, I’m always thinking of things my family can do to secure our future. But honestly, who doesn’t ?

Because I’m usually looking for creative ways to produce more income for my family, most of the ads I see are how to earn more money doing this or that, how to start this project and such and such.

Honestly, if you were to review every quick scheme to make money it would be very exhausting. There are so many to choose from.

Well, God convicted my heart because I realized that pushing to secure my family’s future and finding different ways to bring in income = having very little faith in God.

How can I claim to be a woman of faith when I don’t ever leave things up to the Master?

And really who am I to think that I can secure my financial future or even make an attempt to?

Every business guru today will tell you not to put all your eggs in one basket and to always have multiple streams of income. I actually think this is very good business advice.

But God should be first and before you do anything pray and seek his direction. Don’t go down any path that he hasn’t cleared as yet.

Have faith in God. He is your Jehovah Jireh and he is providing for you. Did you actually think you got that promotion because of the hard work and overtime you were putting in?

Naw girl, that was God’s favor. (and some of you too) 🙂

The world wants to hide their inferiority by gaining wealth but you already know your worth. It is found in Jesus.

Trust that God will provide what you need when you need it.

This may be a weakness we all struggle with but God will cause us to mount on wings like eagles when we feel faint.

Romans.12:2; 1Timothy.6:10

Common-law marriage

This is not my words, it’s God’s word and he has said, that you can do anything you want but not everything is the right choice. (1Corinthians.10:23)

I know that it is very easy to go with the flow and follow the culture and customs of the world but have you thought about what God would think lately?

No one sees living together before marriage as a problem because everyone seems to be doing it. But that’s not how it is in God’s eyes.

When you see a sign saying wet paint or wet concrete do you ignore it and continue on your merry way or do you find another route to get to your destination?

If God tells us in his word not to do something it’s usually because it could potentially rob us of our blessings. Not to mention that our disobedience says to God, “I know what best for me more than you do.”

When you set your standard don’t let anyone change it. God’s standards are set and as his daughters, we shouldn’t allow the bar to drop below what God has already set in place.

Love, marriage, and sex are beautiful. They were created by God whose ways are higher than ours and thoughts much grander than we can perceive.

As much as the world tells us that this is okay, let’s hold to the standard that God has set in place for us because he is our strength.

Following the culture in this matter is easy but taking a stand is harder.  Nothing worth having comes easily.

So when he puts a ring on it, don’t move in until you’re married. It may seem drastic but trust that God’s plan and standards for your life are best.

(Genesis.2:23) Adam and Eve were married as soon as God showed her to Adam. The man God has for you will want to do the right thing.

Weakness is your strength in Jesus Christ. You have what it takes when Jesus is with you to say no.

Hebrews.13:4; 1 Corinthians.7:1-3

Giving in to our Emotions

This one might seem a little drastic because we are really emotional beings. We experience feelings of love, fear, anger, envy, jealousy, disappointment etc…

A lot of these emotions are mentioned in the Bible because we share them with our creator; remember we were created in his image.

Does this mean that we should be stoic and unyielding. Heaven forbid, no.

Can anyone even really do that?

I’d like to see and meet that person because I would try my best to get him or her to laugh. I just thought of those soldiers that stand outside of the Queen’s palace in England.

But they were trained for that and they can express emotions all of us can.

However, our emotions tell us what we like, how we feel and how we should react. They should never dictate who we are. When we allow the fact that we are angry or upset about something to dictate how we act– we are not letting God shine through us.

Now it is a fashion trend in the world for everyone to always be true to who they are and how they feel. Ladies, this is not how we should act as believing woman.

When we are tempted to get angry or disappointed or even envious its important for us to recognize how we feel and at that very moment take it to God in prayer.

Don’t wait until you have exploded to ask God and those who saw your outburst for forgiveness.

The Holy Spirit lives within us for a reason, he is our guide and when he prompts we should listen to his instructions.

Every temptation that comes our way does not have to lead to sin. Let’s nip our emotions in its inception before it controls us.

When we allow our emotions to control us, we give way to the devil. If this is an area of weakness that you have turn it over to God and let him help you fully depend on him. Weakness is your strength in Christ.

1 Peter.5:8; James.1:20

Reflection

Maybe there are some other areas in your life where you have conformed to society, why don’t you list them in the comments. Let’s discuss some more areas that we’ve somehow become desensitized to.

I’ve been looking at my life and there are so many areas that I need to improve in. God has said that we are in the world but not a part of it and we should live our lives in light of that.  I hope these four examples will help you to truly rely on God.

We are sinners saved by God’s grace and our flesh is alive and active. It’s a constant battle to be sober believers shining God’s light when the pleasures of this world, calls to us.

Let’s remember that everything this world offers in temporary but eternity with Jesus is eternal. Your weakness is your strength in Christ.

I love you with the love of Christ.
