To forgive is to set someone free without realizing that you were the one in bondage. However, this is not how it is with God. He is not in bondage but he has forgiven us. Aren’t you grateful today that you are forgiven?

There is a special grace that comes with forgiveness because it’s not always easy to do. When someone steals something that is insignificant as a pen or shoe it is easy to forgive but the kidnapping of a child or being betrayed by someone you love can really test your resolve.

Nevertheless, you have been forgiven even before your first sin. God has already forgiven you.

Our worst enemy can sometimes be our own selves. You may beat yourself up over a decision that you made that you have held on to for so long. But God has already pardoned you.

You are free.

You are who God says you are.

When humans may hold it against you and not speak to you, when your relationships are severed, when there looks like there is no reconciliation in sight, God has forgiven you.

There is no nothing that you can do that will ever make God hate you or refuse to offer you mercy and forgiveness.

When Jesus died on the cross, it was so you can be reconciled with God, his death was triumphant over sin. Every sin that you committed, are committing and will ever commit has already been forgiven of you. All you have to do is repent and ask his forgiveness, he won’t withhold it from you.

God is not like man, if you seek forgiveness and repent of your wicked ways, he will forgive. There will never be any situation or person that will ever require more forgiveness from you than what Jesus has already granted you.

He forgives without looking for anything in return. He has set you free and now he asks that you will do the same and forgive others as he has forgiven you.

Insight from God’s word:

1 John.1:9

If we confess our sins: he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Hebrews.8:12

For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.

Psalms.103:10-12

He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am so thankful that you have forgiven me and that you will continue to forgive me as I progress in my pilgrimage here on earth. Thank you, for not just forgiving me for my past sins but my present and future ones in advance. Your love has covered my iniquities and I’m just grateful to be yours. I ask that you will help me to pattern your example and forgive others as you have forgiven me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
