Deuteronomy 31:8 “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Every Thursday I will be using scriptures to bring you some encouragement along with some other sister bloggers I recently joined.

As soon as you read this short encouragement you will find the links to other encouraging posts on the other blogs.

It was time for Joshua to lead the people of God but something was standing in his way. He was afraid and discouraged.

The Israelites were not the easier people to deal with and God had already groomed Joshua for the position. Joshua had trained under Moses and was capable and ready to lead but fear still clouded his mind. God promises that He would be with him wherever he goes.

Right now, when you turn on the TV or listen to the radio while driving in your car, the world and its news might be overwhelming. There are rumors starting everywhere and it just seems like there is no end in sight.

If we are not careful we can become afraid and discouraged just like Joshua.

Maybe you already feel like he did.

I love what the first part of the verse promises. God will go before you and will be with you always. He is right here with you, listening, carrying your burdens, and offering you peace.

It’s human nature to be afraid and discouraged. We don’t know what is coming next and we can’t see into the future but God is going before us. He also knows exactly what is ahead.

This is why the remaining part of the scripture is such a comfort because he has promised to never leave nor forsake you.

Everything is changing and things are different since COVID-19 but God is still the same and he will keep all his promises.
