Galatians 5:1- Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

To stand fast means to refuse to abandon your beliefs. It means to take a firm stand and dig in.  A tree will only be as strong as its roots.

If the roots are shallow they will not stand when storms arise but if the roots run deep the storm will rage and not affect it.

My dear, this life of faith will not be easy. Trials and difficulties will arise.

As a matter of fact, if you don’t experience any hard times, you should start examining yourself.

This is why you have to remain focused, stationary, and unyielding in the face of the storms that will surely come.

My daughter likes tight spaces. Because she is two and tiny when she plays hide and seek, she can fit herself into crevices all around the house.

When she goes in and realizes that she cannot move, she immediately starts crying, squirming, and doing the most. You see, as much as she likes tight spaces, she likes her freedom more.

What about you my friend, are you more comfortable in an uncomfortable position? Or do you love the freedom Christ has given you more?

In the New Testament age, (which was the start of the church age) women of God are no longer tied to the law. Yet, we can restrict ourselves and hold others in contempt because we live as though we are bound.

We are uncomfortable, would rather relax but there is a standard to uphold, a lifestyle to maintain that keeps us away from exercising our freedom.

Stand fast: Living free, not bound

You don’t have to be a legalist to become a woman after God’s own heart.

My friend, you don’t have to adhere to or follow rules that have changed with the passing of time.

Once upon a time, the piano was looked down upon in the church. Can you believe it? That heavenly instrument was considered ungodly and of this world.

But that isn’t so today, is it? I surely hope not. As a woman of freedom, if you want to dance, go to the movies, wear a swimsuit to the beach, or even add a little extra to your makeup it doesn’t make you any less a Christian.

Paul lets us know that Christ has made us free. We don’t have to follow strict rules and be the sour ones in the ladies’ group.

You can live a life of freedom in Jesus, one where you are able to put off the yoke of bondage that has you trapped and accept the liberty that is yours.

This is not the time to condemn others or worry about what she will say about your new-found freedom in Jesus.

It is time to sing with outstretched arms to the lover of your soul even if the song has a beat.

Time to float at the pool wearing your swimsuit while giving God praise for the gorgeous sunny day.

It is time to let go of the uncomfortable comfort of rules and enjoy yourself in Christ.

Conclusion

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

The Christian life is fun, it is certainly not boring. We are all women of God coming from different backgrounds and different walks of life.

It is time to praise and magnify your God the best way that you know how. If you know that you are offending someone; scripture rightly admonishes us to stop what we are doing in their presence.

You can live with freedom and let the bondage of the law fall away because you have been granted liberty in Jesus and no one can ever take it away.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the liberty that you have given to me. Help me to not take this gift for granted so I may choose to honor you in everything that I do. I don’t want to use this liberty to offend others or dishonor you. That’s why I’m so grateful for your Holy Spirit, who leads and guides me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
